{"id":398,"date":"2007-01-31T09:10:04","date_gmt":"2007-01-31T15:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/index.php\/index.php\/2007\/01\/31\/398\/"},"modified":"2007-01-31T09:38:56","modified_gmt":"2007-01-31T15:38:56","slug":"398","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=398","title":{"rendered":"Sweeping Up The Footsteps Where I Strayed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I worked at my first country-western station &#8211; KDAK in Carrington, ND &#8211; in 1982.\u00a0 I worked at a couple after that, including WDGY in Minneapolis in 2001-2002.\u00a0 I learned a great, immutable lesson; when country\u00a0 western is bad, it&#8217;s very very bad.\u00a0 When it&#8217;s mediocre, it&#8217;s very, very bad.\u00a0 When it&#8217;s good, it&#8217;s very, very good.<\/p>\n<p>And while the country audience is reliably Republican and the heart and soul of this country, country&#8217;s big themes &#8211; adultery, drinking, adultery, drunk driving, adultery and being hung over &#8211; show that America&#8217;s heart and soul longs for it&#8217;s younger, dumber days.<\/p>\n<p>JB Doubtless&#8217; protestations aside, most country-western music is cynically-marketed, focus-grouped tripe that makes N*SYNC sound fairly deep and\u00a0 fascinating in comparison.
