{"id":39475,"date":"2013-11-01T08:44:22","date_gmt":"2013-11-01T13:44:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=39475"},"modified":"2013-11-01T06:48:14","modified_gmt":"2013-11-01T11:48:14","slug":"as-things-are","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=39475","title":{"rendered":"As Things Are"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In October, when Republicans were trying to de-fund\u00a0or delay\u00a0Obama-care, Democrats said:\u00a0 Republicans hate poor people.\u00a0 They want them to die.\u00a0 That\u2019s why Republicans don\u2019t want my friend, Poor Crippled Timmy, to OBTAIN medical insurance to pay for medical care.\u00a0 In the face of that vicious onslaught, week-kneed Republicans caved.<\/p>\n<p>Confident prediction: in January, when the temporary continuing spending resolution expires and Republicans are\u00a0hinting at\u00a0de-funding\u00a0or delaying\u00a0Obama-care, Democrats will say:\u00a0 Republicans hate poor people.\u00a0 They want them to die.\u00a0 That\u2019s why Republican don\u2019t want poor people like my friend, Poor Crippled Timmy, to RETAIN the Obama-care medical insurance he just obtained to pay for his medical care.\u00a0 In the face of that vicious onslaught, week-kneed Republicans will cave, again.<\/p>\n<p>Mitch McConnell, Lindsay Graham, John McCain and all the other Republicans desperately trying to find a way to placate the Republican base and also appease the Democrats in Congress, here\u2019s a news flash: Democrats hate you.\u00a0 They hated you in the past, they hate you now, and they will hate you in the future.\u00a0 Their friends at the New York Times and the Star Tribune hate you, too. \u00a0No matter what you do, what you say, what bribe you give them, they will say bad things about you, attribute to you the most wicked motives and refuse to compromise with you.<\/p>\n<p>Once you accept that, you have a choice: stay and abandon your principles; stay and fight for your principles; or quit.<\/p>\n<p>One of these choices makes you a Republican.\u00a0 The others make you a weasel.\u00a0 Pick one.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Doakes<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s time for a reference to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?page_id=5033\">Berg&#8217;s Law<\/a> &#8211; in this case, Berg&#8217;s Eleventh, which comes to the fore at campaign time:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Berg\u2019s Eleventh Law of Inverse Viability<\/strong>: The conservative liberals \u201crespect\u201d for their \u201cconservative principles\u201d will the the one that has the least chance of ever getting elected.
