{"id":39267,"date":"2013-10-25T12:00:04","date_gmt":"2013-10-25T17:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=39267"},"modified":"2013-10-25T09:34:46","modified_gmt":"2013-10-25T14:34:46","slug":"teacher-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=39267","title":{"rendered":"Teacher Of The Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Perhaps you&#8217;ve heard; Minnesota&#8217;s new &#8220;Teacher of the Year&#8221;, Saint Paul science teacher Megan Hall <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.citypages.com\/blotter\/2013\/10\/conservatives_decry_mn_teacher_of_the_years_tyranny_of_the_one_percent_remark_video.php\">seems to have answered the question<\/a> &#8220;are today&#8217;s public schools nothing but left-wing indoctrination centers&#8221; with a rousing &#8220;<em>Hell <\/em>yeah!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is from her acceptance speech, with emphasis added by me:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Teachers are persistent and responsible and generous because we believe that every child in America, regardless of circumstances of birth, deserves a decent chance at a good life. [Applause] From where I stand, teachers create equality of opportunity. From where I stand, teaching is a profession that takes a gritty patriotism.
