{"id":38986,"date":"2013-10-11T12:00:35","date_gmt":"2013-10-11T17:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=38986"},"modified":"2013-10-11T08:10:36","modified_gmt":"2013-10-11T13:10:36","slug":"38986","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=38986","title":{"rendered":"Level To Off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Minnesota tax revenue is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startribune.com\/politics\/blogs\/227282051.html\">off since July<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?attachment_id=35213\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-35213\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-35213\" title=\"DaytonDustbowl\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/DaytonDustbowl.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"152\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After a couple of years of faster-than-expected receipts &#8211; read &#8220;the economy was growing faster than had been predicted&#8221;, largely due to GOP economic policies &#8211; things are flat to a little slow.<\/p>\n<p>And if you&#8217;re a conservative, you already know why &#8220;flat&#8221; is as good as it&#8217;s gonna get (emphasis added):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The state took in <strong>more from personal income taxes and sales taxes<\/strong> than budget officials predicted.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota workers contributed $2.1 billion in income taxes, about $27 million more than state officials projected. Consumers paid $1.1 billion in sales tax, about $46 million more than expected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Corporate income taxes came in at $342 million, down $11 million from estimates<\/strong>. Other revenue accounted for $457 million, about $64 million below projections.<\/p>\n<p>This the first budget snapshot since new tax hikes on high earners and a menu of sales taxes on business-related services kicked in.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Catastrophic? \u00a0Hardly &#8211; yet.<\/p>\n<p>Dispositive empirical proof that the DFL tax and spend policy is going to tank the economy? \u00a0Not\u00a0<em>just\u00a0<\/em>yet.<\/p>\n<p>A sign that Minnesota&#8217;s economy can&#8217;t possibly be amused?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll bank on it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minnesota tax revenue is off since July.
