{"id":3846,"date":"2008-12-20T17:59:34","date_gmt":"2008-12-20T22:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3846"},"modified":"2008-12-20T18:00:03","modified_gmt":"2008-12-20T23:00:03","slug":"rub-my-curdy-belly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3846","title":{"rendered":"Rub My Curdy Belly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.poets.org\/viewmedia.php\/prmMID\/16188\">Blues<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I am lazy, the laziest girl in the world.<br \/>\nI sleep during the day when I want to,<br \/>\n&#8217;til my face is creased and swollen,<br \/>\n&#8217;til my lips are dry and hot.<br \/>\nI  eat as I please: cookies and milk after lunch,<br \/>\nbutter and sour cream on my baked potato,<br \/>\nfoods that slothful people eat,<br \/>\nthat turn yellow and opaque beneath the skin.<br \/>\nSometimes come dinnertime Sunday<br \/>\nI am still in my nightgown,<br \/>\nthe one with the lace trim listing<br \/>\nbecause I have not mended it.<br \/>\nMany days I do not exercise, only consider it,<br \/>\nthen rub my curdy belly and lie down.<br \/>\nEven my poems are lazy.<br \/>\nI use syllabics instead of iambs,<br \/>\nprefer slant to the gong of full rhyme,<br \/>\nwrite briefly while others go for pages.<br \/>\nAnd yesterday, for example, I did not work at all!<br \/>\nI got in my car and I drove  to factory outlet stores,<br \/>\npurchased stockings and panties and socks<br \/>\nwith my father&#8217;s money.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8230;and then she reads at Barack Obama&#8217;s Inauguration.<\/p>\n<p>Ugh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From &#8220;Blues&#8221; I am lazy, the laziest girl in the world.
