{"id":37525,"date":"2013-07-31T06:19:58","date_gmt":"2013-07-31T11:19:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=37525"},"modified":"2013-07-28T17:23:11","modified_gmt":"2013-07-28T22:23:11","slug":"this-is-what-democracy-acts-like","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=37525","title":{"rendered":"This Is What Democracy Acts Like"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Most people &#8211; even\u00a0pro-&#8220;choice&#8221; Democrats\u00a0&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.the-american-interest.com\/wrm\/2013\/07\/25\/us-to-democrats-no-really-were-okay-with-some-abortion-restrictions\/\">h favor some sort of restriction on later-term abortions, like the proposed 20 week limit in Texas:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A recent WSJ\/NBC news poll has some data that might shock Democrats: Wendy Davis and her sneakers aside, a plurality of Americans support 20 week abortion bans of the kind passed in Texas. Forty-four percent of respondents said they would support the ban, with 37 percent opposed. And the numbers get more interesting the further down you dig. WSJ:<\/p>\n<p>The Journal\/NBC poll showed a complexity of views on the bans. <strong>More women than men supported the state bans<\/strong>, 46% to 40%. Even college-educated women, a group that strongly supports abortion rights, tipped toward favoring the 20-week restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>And, of course, when you expand the field of questioning from 20-week bans to late-term restrictions in general, the support gets even higher.
