{"id":37268,"date":"2013-07-15T05:00:51","date_gmt":"2013-07-15T10:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=37268"},"modified":"2014-04-28T11:55:33","modified_gmt":"2014-04-28T16:55:33","slug":"that-governs-least","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=37268","title":{"rendered":"That Governs Least"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the NARN over the weekend I had the pleasure of interviewing Kevin Williamson, the National Review writer whose latest book, <em>The End Is Near (And It&#8217;s Going To Be Awesome) <\/em>is a fascinating exploration of both the power\u00a0of\u00a0the natural human trait of adaptation to solve most problesm &#8211; and government&#8217;s immunity to it. The book is a smorgasbord of food for thought, and I highly recommend it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One of the key points is that politics, by the nature of its very immunity to agility and adaptibility, is the <em>worst possible way <\/em>to allocate resources in a complex society.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Mayor of Dorset, Minnesota (a tourist town up North in Hubbard County), has a gimmick: they pull names from the hat to see who\u2019s mayor. This year, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation\/2013\/07\/10\/minnesota-4-year-old-boy-mayor\/2504813\/\">it\u2019s a 4-year old kid.<\/a> By all accounts, the town is thriving under his administration.<\/p>\n<p>Wonder if he\u2019d consider moving to St. Paul?
