{"id":36592,"date":"2013-06-05T12:40:56","date_gmt":"2013-06-05T17:40:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=36592"},"modified":"2014-12-12T10:31:04","modified_gmt":"2014-12-12T16:31:04","slug":"mngop-relax-and-let-the-experts-do-your-thinking-for-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=36592","title":{"rendered":"MNGOP: Relax And Let The Experts Do Your Thinking For You!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MPR&#8217;s <em>Daily Current<\/em> &#8211; whose Keri Miller is as reliable a PR flak as the DFL has &#8211; talked about the upcoming Governor&#8217;s race &#8211; with a panel of media libs:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>After the Friday Roundtable taping wrapped up, Kerri threw one more question to our guests off the air: \u201cWho is emerging as a GOP candidate to challenge Dayton?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patricia Lopez: \u201cI don\u2019t even know if that name is out there yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Steve Perry: \u201cThe name I keep hearing in sort of an \u2018if only\u2019 vein from Republicans is Julie Rosen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lopez: \u201cShe has not said \u2018no\u2019 and [I heard her give] what sure sounded like a stump speech. She just dropped by the office and I thought, \u2018That sure sounded like a stump speech.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brian Bakst: \u201cShe would be headed for a primary no matter what, though, because that stadium legislation that she co-sponsored would be a non-sale within the convention.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Rosen&#8217;s generally good, with a few unfortunate traits, most notably her penchant for being among the first to work &#8220;across the aisle&#8221; &#8211; an inevitable last resort when you&#8217;re in the minority&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;which she was not, back in 2012, she led a small group of Republicans to ingratiate themselves with Helga Braid Nation without bothering to get any spending concessions from the Governor.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, working with the DFL sans quid pro quo is one of the key criteria on getting the media to accept you&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;temporarily.<\/p>\n<p>I direct you to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?page_id=5033\">Berg&#8217;s Eleventh Law <\/a>(&#8220;<em>The conservative liberals \u201crespect\u201d for their \u201cconservative principles\u201d will the the one that has the least chance of ever getting elected<\/em>.&#8221;) and its various corollaries, especially the McCain Corollary (&#8220;If that respected conservative ever develops a chance of getting elected, that \u201crespect\u201d will turn to blind unreasoning hatred overnight&#8221;).  You may be certain that if Keri Miller and Patricia Lopez are talking up Julie Rosen, that the Alliance for a Better Minnesota has a campaign in the pocket against her, all ready to go.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps &#8220;Julie Rosen:  Stadiums for the 1%&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>Lopez &#8211; the editor of that notable bellwether for conservatives, the <em>Strib <\/em>&#8211; notes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Lopez: \u201cThink about how hard it would be for Dayton to run against a moderate, Republican woman. Yikes.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m not saying Rosen might not be an excellent candidate.  I&#8217;m willing to be persuaded.
