{"id":3629,"date":"2008-11-12T08:00:31","date_gmt":"2008-11-12T13:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3629"},"modified":"2008-12-07T13:58:20","modified_gmt":"2008-12-07T18:58:20","slug":"vote-of-disconfidence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3629","title":{"rendered":"Vote of Disconfidence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.investmentnews.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20081109\/REG\/311109969\/1009\/INIssueAlert01\">Advisers doubt Obama<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The majority of financial advisers have little faith in President-elect Barack  Obama\u2019s ability to put the nation back on sound economic footing.<\/p>\n<p>An exclusive <em>InvestmentNews<\/em> survey of 968 advisers last week found that  61% lacked confidence in the new commander-in-chief\u2019s ability to resolve the  country\u2019s economic woes.<\/p>\n<p>After last Tuesday\u2019s historic vote in which Mr. Obama was elected the  nation\u2019s first black president, advisers across the country began considering  ways to protect client assets from changes that could go into effect under the  incoming new Democratic-controlled government.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s not encouraging. Investment advisors are already advising their clients on ways to protect their assets from the President and his Economic Geniuses?<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and it might be too late to escape? (emphasis mine)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cVery possibly, we\u2019ll be looking at a <strong>retroactive tax increase for  upper-income people to Jan. 1, 2009<\/strong>,\u201d Federal Policy Group managing director Ken  Kies told more than 1,000 advisers who participated in InvestmentNews\u2019  post-election webcast last Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cthe tax increase will be significant, and it\u2019s going to be a lot more than  anything he campaigned on.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Before you dismiss this because you don&#8217;t count yourself among upper-income earners, remember, Obama&#8217;s standard for this distinction has and could fall further.<\/p>\n<blockquote \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Advisers doubt Obama The majority of financial advisers have little faith in President-elect Barack Obama\u2019s ability to put the nation back on sound economic footing.
