Nancy Pelosi for saying we had to pass Obamacare to know what was in the bill.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Diane DeGette (D(im bulb)-CO) shows that even then <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2013\/04\/03\/co_democrat_doesnt_understand_high-capacity_magazines_can_be_reloaded.html\">it&#8217;s pretty doubtful liberal Democrats know what they&#8217;re talking about<\/a> in re guns:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-style: italic;\">While participating in a public forum on gun control hosted by the Denver Post Tuesday, Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., said that the number of magazines will decrease over time as shooters fire bullets, CNS News reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fbel4SASUPQ\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What&#8217;s the efficacy of banning these magazine clips? I will tell you, these are ammunition, they&#8217;re bullets, so the people who have those now, they&#8217;re going to shoot them,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>She went on to say that &#8220;the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will be shot and there won&#8217;t be any more available.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The bad news? \u00a0DeGette doesn&#8217;t understand what she&#8217;s legislating about.<\/p>\n<p>The worse news? \u00a0The mainstream media in attendance probably don&#8217;t understand it either.<\/p>\n<p>Somewhere in between? \u00a0Her staff is no better or brighter (emphasis added to accelerate the ridicule):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-style: italic;\">DeGette\u2019s spokeswoman Juliet Johnson issued a statement Wednesday, saying the congresswoman mispoke.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Bitstream Charter', serif; font-style: italic;\">\u201cThe Congresswoman has been working on a high-capacity assault magazine ban for years, and has been deeply involved in the issue; she simply misspoke in referring to \u2018magazines\u2019 when she should have referred to <strong>\u2018clips,\u2019 which cannot be reused<\/strong> because they don\u2019t have a feeding mechanism,\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One might ask &#8220;is it important that legislators understand everything they legislate about?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On the one hand, it&#8217;s probably a bit much to ask every legislator to understand everything about every issue; they get much of what they know via staff briefs and, I suspect, Google.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand? \u00a0After &#8220;working on a high-capacity assault magazine ban for years&#8221;, it seems a little absurd that DeGette apparently hasn&#8217;t the faintest idea what she&#8217;s legislating about.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few years back, sentient people ridiculed Rep.
