{"id":35441,"date":"2013-03-28T12:00:46","date_gmt":"2013-03-28T17:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=35441"},"modified":"2013-03-28T07:28:19","modified_gmt":"2013-03-28T12:28:19","slug":"a-gap-in-the-language","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=35441","title":{"rendered":"A Gap In The Language"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Now, this is one of those stories where there are really a couple of levels.<\/p>\n<p>At the surface, this is a story about liberal hypocrisy; a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibtimes.com\/steubenvilles-naacp-president-says-rape-victim-was-drunk-willing-exclusive-1149517\">Pennsylvania NAACP leader blames a rape victim<\/a> for tempting a couple of football players into perfidy:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In shocking comments, the president of the Steubenville chapter of the NAACP places the blame for the rape case that has shocked the nation on the 16-year-old victim.<\/p>\n<p>Royal Mayo, a lifelong resident of the Ohio city that gained national infamy following the rape of the girl by two Steubenville High School football players, says that attention should be focused on the role of the young woman, whom he calls the &#8220;alleged victim,&#8221; saying she was drunk and wanted to go out with one of the football players. He also claims that other teens involved in the incident were let off easy, because they were &#8220;well-connected.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yes, yes, I know &#8211; official for a liberal organization violates PC\u00a0<em>kashrut\u00a0<\/em>with great gusto, exposing the left&#8217;s deep-seated hypocrisies, yadda yadda. \u00a0An example of the left&#8217;s war on women. \u00a0Same as it ever was.<\/p>\n<p>But I&#8217;m here to issue a challenge to conservatism&#8217;s assembled linguists, the movement&#8217;s neologic engineers.<\/p>\n<p>These stories are with us always. \u00a0They are constant blog fodder, and have been ever since most people still thought &#8220;blog&#8221; was a sound associated with gas-station burritos. \u00a0And these stories almost always need to plod laboriously through explaining something along the lines of &#8220;if a Republican or conservative would have said this, the media and the left&#8217;s chanting-point-bots (ptr) would be howling for blood, but since it&#8217;s one of their own, they&#8217;re silent&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>We need to come up with a snappy, dismissive word or short phrase to wrap up that meaning. \u00a0If I were a lefty and this were twitter, I&#8217;d make it a hash tag with an acronym: &#8220;#IAROCWHSTTMATLCPBPTRWBHFBBSI1OTOTS&#8221;, but that&#8217;s almost worse than having to type out the explanation.<\/p>\n<p>So set to it, real men of linguistic genius! \u00a0We need a single word or short phrase that goes Alinsky on this pattern, and does it with style!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Now, this is one of those stories where there are really a couple of levels.
