{"id":34171,"date":"2013-02-08T12:10:03","date_gmt":"2013-02-08T18:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=34171"},"modified":"2013-09-06T15:25:17","modified_gmt":"2013-09-06T20:25:17","slug":"the-ongoing-conversation-about-guns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=34171","title":{"rendered":"The Ongoing &#8220;Conversation About Guns&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was down at the Capitol last night watching Representative Martens testify. \u00a0My friend AVERY LIBRELLE was there, wearing a &#8220;Freedom not to get Shot&#8221; button.<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE: \u00a0Gun violence is out of control! \u00a0We need fewer guns on the street!<\/p>\n<p>ME: Well, no. \u00a0It&#8217;s down by nearly half in the past twenty years, as the number of civilian guns has grown by nearly half. \u00a0 In fact, the gun crime rate is dropping pretty much every where\u00a0<em>but\u00a0<\/em>in places like Chicago, which continue to defy the Supreme Court and the Constitution and ban civilian gun ownership by the law-abiding citizen.<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE! \u00a0Hah! \u00a0We won&#8217;t stop crime in Chicago until we have a comprehensive national policy on guns!<\/p>\n<p>ME: So you&#8217;re saying Chicago&#8217;s murder rate is the fault of Indiana, Wisconsin and downstate Illinois?<\/p>\n<p>LIBRELLE: Yes!
