{"id":3278,"date":"2008-09-10T12:00:39","date_gmt":"2008-09-10T17:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3278"},"modified":"2008-09-10T09:51:51","modified_gmt":"2008-09-10T14:51:51","slug":"crawling-from-the-wreckage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3278","title":{"rendered":"Crawling From The Wreckage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Al Franken got around 2\/3 of the vote yesterday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.keybiscayne.com\/admin\/app\/webroot\/files\/news\/building%20implosion_1214659445.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the <em>DFL Primary, <\/em>where the usual margin of victory among endorsed DFL candidates compares to those of Robert Mugabe or Leonid Brezhnev &#8211; conservatively, 100+%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.looktruenorth.com\/component\/content\/article\/74-us-senate\/4676-how-badly-did-franken-perform.html\">Gary Gross<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Frankly, these totals must be giving Franken&#8217;s campaign alot of heartburn. If they aren&#8217;t, they should be. As Michael said <strong><a onkeypress=\"window.open(this.href);return false;\" onclick=\"window.open(this.href);return false;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com\/2008\/09\/09\/total-embarrassment-for-team-franken-franken-rejected-by-35-of-dfl-primary-voters\/\"><font color=\"#990000\">here<\/font><\/a><\/strong>, this is a &#8220;total embarassment&#8221; to Team Franken. To say that Franken doesn&#8217;t appeal to central Minnesota voters is understatement. Frankly, I don&#8217;t see Franken&#8217;s appeal to independents or moderates.<\/p>\n<p>The Unhinged Left is his base. It doesn&#8217;t extend beyond that, which means that he&#8217;s toast this November. Any statewide candidate that can&#8217;t appeal to voters beyond their traditional base is history.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com\/2008\/09\/09\/total-embarrassment-for-team-franken-franken-rejected-by-35-of-dfl-primary-voters\/\">Michael Brodkorb<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I thought it was reasonable to ask if Al Franken would get less than 90 percent in the primary election. I thought Franken would get over 90 percent.\u00a0 But Franken got less than 90 percent and 80 percent\u2026he even got less than 70 percent.\u00a0 As of 11:49 p.m., <a href=\"http:\/\/electionresults.sos.state.mn.us\/20080909\/ElecRslts.asp?M=S&#038;R=all&#038;P=A&#038;Races=%27%27\"><font color=\"#000000\">Franken has only received 65 percent of the vote<\/font><\/a> in the DFL primary election.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/electionresults.sos.state.mn.us\/20080909\/ElecRslts.asp?M=S&#038;R=all&#038;P=A&#038;Races=%27%27\"><font color=\"#000000\">Tonight\u2019s primary results<\/font><\/a> are a total embarrassement for Team Franken.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And Al Franken&#8217;s <strike>organ-grinder<\/strike> blogpet <a href=\"http:\/\/mnpublius.com\/2008\/09\/primary-victories\/\">Aaron Landry<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Analyzing primaries can many times be a fruitless adventure, but hey, why not? Here\u2019s a couple numbers I found\u00a0interesting:<\/p>\n<p>While Priscilla Lord Faris got 29% of the vote, for <em>some strange reason<\/em> the amount of people that chose to vote in the DFL column was just shy of\u00a0<strong>double that of the GOP<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Right.\u00a0 Because it&#8217;s a\u00a0<em>contested\u00a0vote.\u00a0 <\/em>That draws people. \u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I think there are some people on the right that wouldn\u2019t believe that DFLers in Minnesota outnumber GOP\u2019ers 2 to 1.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And, silly as we might look, we&#8217;re supported by the last couple of election results, in which we finish between two and six points out of the majority.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Who are all these people voting in the DFL\u00a0slot?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I dunno, but a third of &#8217;em don&#8217;t seem all that thrilled by A-Frank.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Al Franken got around 2\/3 of the vote yesterday.
