{"id":3244,"date":"2008-09-08T05:13:21","date_gmt":"2008-09-08T10:13:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3244"},"modified":"2008-09-08T05:13:21","modified_gmt":"2008-09-08T10:13:21","slug":"convention-sublime-to-the-ridiculous","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3244","title":{"rendered":"Convention:  Sublime To The Ridiculous"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With all the talk about Sarah Palin&#8217;s sublime speech and the anarkids&#8217; display of petulance, it seems we&#8217;ve pretty much missed talking about the <em>dumbest<\/em> display of the entire RNC; &#8220;True Blue Minnesota&#8221;&#8216;s jumbotron.<\/p>\n<p>Now, when TBM started talking about mounting &#8220;huge&#8221; jumbotrons high above downtown Saint Paul, on Cathedral Hill, to beam messages of goading and shame down upon the assembled delegates, I was thinking something like this:<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3217\/2610516812_a67688f874.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But in fact, the effect was neither as sinister nor as grandiose.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, I can&#8217;t find a photo of it anywhere on the web (I didn&#8217;t bring a camera with me).
