There are two immutable facts on this blog.<\/p>\n
So for the better part of two months, I want – and tryyyyyy – to write about anything\u00a0but\u00a0<\/em>politics.<\/p>\n This year, I thought I’d try something new;\u00a0plan\u00a0<\/em>to write a few non-political things during the swing time between election and session.<\/p>\n A couple of the things potentially on the agenda:<\/p>\n The Accidental Conservative<\/strong>: \u00a0It was about this time thirty years ago I seriously started wondering if I really was the liberal I’d always been. \u00a0But conservatives? \u00a0Those were…those\u00a0<\/em>people. \u00a0Not like me. \u00a0It was a weird time. \u00a0I may just dredge some of it up.<\/p>\n Bruce Springsteen: \u00a0America’s Greatest \u00a0Conservative \u00a0<\/em>Songwriter<\/strong>: \u00a0In which I debunk the idea that Springsteen – his public political persona notwithstanding – is really a liberal songwriter. \u00a0Complete with music!<\/p>\n Notes To A Young Conservative<\/strong>: \u00a0It’s not easy being red. \u00a0Especially in a culture that glorifies much of what we disdain, and holds us to absurd standards that they don’t themselves observe.<\/p>\n Rethinking The Seventies<\/strong>: \u00a0When I was a teenager and twentysomething, I was an angry snot-nosed punk rocker (in every way but appearance). \u00a0And as part of that, I really, really disdained the popular music of the seventies – from the pop treacle on the radio to the superstars. \u00a0I spat at the mention of Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, California rock staples frpm Jackson Browne to the Eagles, Arena Rock (think Boston, Foreigner and the like), even the Beatles. \u00a0And R&B, I just didn’t get at all. \u00a0 \u00a0I’ll be digging through the archives and going over my long, sometimes comical reassessment of the decades music (and what a pretentious little twerp I was back then).<\/p>\n I figure if I mention ’em, I’ll actually do them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" There are two immutable facts on this blog.
