Don\u2019t worry about that,\u201d he said to the crowd of about 1,300.<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerlineblog.com\/archives2\/2008\/08\/021277.php\">He May Not Be Trailing McCain, But He&#8217;s Trailing Kerry<\/a> (from Power Line)<\/div>\n<p>(Currently) Obama\u00a0(has a)\u00a0projected 275 (electoral) votes to McCain&#8217;s 250, with 13 up for grabs. Four years ago \u2014 Kerry 317, Bush 202, and 19 tied.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pajamasmedia.com\/instapundit\/archives2\/023076.php\">Glenn Reynolds<\/a> adds:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Of course, Kerry was hurt by an overly grandiose performance at the Convention, and by media bias that backfired. Obama should be safe from that, right?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Audacity of Nope?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cJohn McCain, all he wants to do is talk about me. They know they can\u2019t win on the issues. So what they\u2019ll do is they\u2019ll try to scare people. He\u2019s risky. He\u2019s risky. We\u2019re not sure.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Which might make a good argument, if it weren&#8217;t actually true. And it may actually be\u00a0<em>Democratic<\/em> voters weighing in to that effect as they find issue after issue wearing through the veneer that is Obama&#8217;s campaign, leaving his followers with a general malaise.<\/p>\n<p>One might advise Barack to worry more about his constituents and what they are saying and less about McCain.<\/p>\n<p>Will McCain knock Obama off his <a href=\"http:\/\/psycmeistr.blogspot.com\/2008\/08\/post-turtle.html\"><strong>post<\/strong><\/a> or will Hillary and the rest of the Democrats? Does McCain offer a safer choice to likely voters in the middle or will they just stay home?<\/p>\n<p>From an Obama supporter:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.windsofchange.net\/archives\/obama_and_closing_the_deal.php\">Obama And Closing The Deal<\/a>\u00a0(from <a href=\"http:\/\/althouse.blogspot.com\/2008\/08\/why-are-so-many-democrats-still.html\">Althouse<\/a>)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I keep digging into his biography, and finding places where what he says doesn&#8217;t line up with what he did. That&#8217;s not striking &#8211; welcome to politics &#8211; but since he&#8217;s selling us in no small part his own beliefs rather than his accomplishments, it would be nice to see those beliefs more deeply in the context of his biography.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Allow me to paraphrase: &#8220;He\u2019s risky. He\u2019s risky. We\u2019re not sure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>For the women, the animosity over Hillary is not at the top, but simmers somewhere underneath. For the men, a feeling that Obama is a brilliant man, but a distrust &#8211; of what, no one could completely say.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A non-specific malaise then.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A large number of mainstream Democrats simply confess a disquiet. The Howard Wolfson story &#8211; that Hillary would have won Iowa and hence the election if Edwards&#8217; affair had come out &#8211; has been repeated enough that it got my attention. I can only call it buyer&#8217;s remorse.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A non-specific remorseful malaise.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I&#8217;m feeling it as well. I&#8217;m still a solid vote for Obama, but when I sit down and write checks, somehow I just never bring myself to write one for him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/blog\/g\/d3064bf4-afe3-4cf3-9d5e-fe06e2dbb2aa\">Obama&#8217;s Credibility Gap &#8211;Large and Growing<\/a>: Obama also had on display yesterday a very troubling slipperiness that is increasingly defining him.<\/p>\n<p>He has also managed to slip into a &#8220;reformer&#8221; shtick that has zero connection to his hyper-partisan voting record.<\/p>\n<p>But yesterday he tried to slip past at least two issues on which such obfuscation shouldn&#8217;t work &#8211;same sex marriage and Senate ethics reform.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>My point here is not to argue the policy positions Obama takes, but to point out his firm denial of his real positions on both issues.\u00a0 He flat out distorted his positions, and did so without even an arched eye-brow from the MSM.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A slippery non-specific remorseful malaise.<\/p>\n<p>How might that\u00a0manifest itself come November?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Obama: &#8216;I will win&#8217; \u201cI will win.
