{"id":3051,"date":"2008-08-12T07:04:00","date_gmt":"2008-08-12T12:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3051"},"modified":"2008-08-12T07:04:00","modified_gmt":"2008-08-12T12:04:00","slug":"jan-schneider","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=3051","title":{"rendered":"Jan Schneider"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we approach primary season, the Override Six are back in the news &#8211; a little, anyway.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve been following the Keith\u00a0 Downey race on one side of Edina, against Ron Erhard; we&#8217;d love to see Keith prevail, there.<\/p>\n<p>On the other side of Edina, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.truthvmachine.com\/?p=6184\">First Ringer writes about <em>his <\/em>horse in the race<\/a> &#8211; Jan Schneider:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Nearly six months later one might wonder if the value of the \u201cOverride Six\u201d has been ridden hard and put away wet.\u00a0 Several members are retiring.\u00a0 Others were quietly endorsed.\u00a0 One has switched parties.\u00a0\u00a0Of the offending six, only one significant primary remains &#8211; that of <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/wwww.electjanschneider.com\/\">endorsed Republican Jan Schneider <\/a>and incumbent Neil Peterson.\u00a0 Peterson has the traditional advantages of incumbency alongside a name recognition born out of a career in politics stretching back nearly 30 years\u00a0as a\u00a0Bloomington city councilmember and mayor.\u00a0\u00a0And thanks\u00a0to his\u00a0transportation bill vote, Peterson\u2019s coffers are also flush with\u00a0special interest cash.<\/p>\n<p>Schneider\u2019s career trajectory has been quite different &#8211; taking place in business, not politics, where she\u2019s\u00a0worked as a senior business consultant for both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies.\u00a0 Having spent 25 years helping companies cut\u00a0waste, prioritize\u00a0spending,\u00a0and\u00a0strategically plan from soup to nuts, Jan\u2019s background seems more necessary than ever\u00a0in a state that\u2019s gone from a $2 billion surplus to a $1 billion deficit.\u00a0 Jan\u00a0is experienced, conservative and unlike the incumbent won\u2019t be <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.electjanschneider.com\/Know_the_facts.html\">voting 52% of the time with the DFL<\/a>.\u00a0 In the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com\/2008\/05\/31\/narn-%e2%80%9cthe-final-word%e2%80%9d-tonight-from-3-5-pm\/#comment-217722\">words<\/a> of blogger Gary Gross, <strong>\u201cI wish we had a candidate of Jan Schneider\u2019s quality running in each hotly contested district. If we did, we\u2019d be in great shape.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What Jan needs is money &#8211; and your support.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He&#8217;s right, of course; Peterson got a <em>ton<\/em> of swag out of betraying the Governor last spring, to say nothing of the usual fawning coverage from the &#8220;The Only Good Republican Is A RINO&#8221; media.<\/p>\n<p>But Schneider is worth your support.\u00a0 Count on hearing her on the NARN before the primary; she&#8217;s pretty sharp, and Edina could sure use her in office.<\/p>\n<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As we approach primary season, the Override Six are back in the news &#8211; a little, anyway.
