{"id":29435,"date":"2012-08-06T12:27:59","date_gmt":"2012-08-06T17:27:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=29435"},"modified":"2012-08-06T12:40:23","modified_gmt":"2012-08-06T17:40:23","slug":"not-necessarily-an-endorsement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=29435","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Thoughtful, Pragmatic&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, we <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=29162\">reported <\/a>that Congressman Erik Paulsen (CD3) has endorsed Dave Osmek for the MInnesota State Senate in District 33.<\/p>\n<p>Connie Doepke &#8211; endorsed yesterday by <del>Lori Sturdevant<\/del> the Strib, apparetly doesn&#8217;t think the people in her district need to know that.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, Doepke&#8217;s campaign apparently sent out a lit piece, with a picture of Doepke with Paulsen &#8211; and, most troublingly, a quote from Paulsen, and <em>the Congressman&#8217;s signature<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>This is a fairly clear implication, to those who aren&#8217;t paying attention, that Congressman Paulsen &#8211; who is on his way to what might be a three-digit victory over the hapless Brian Barnes this fall &#8211; endorses Connie Doepke.<\/p>\n<p>Siources tell me none of this was authorized or written by Paulsen&#8217;s campaign. \u00a0And now\u00a0Congressman Paulsen&#8217;s office has released a statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Statement from Congressman Paulsen regarding the Republican Primary in Senate District 33<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:<\/p>\n<p>CONTACT: John-Paul Yates (952) [phone number redacted]<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has come to my attention that the Doepke campaign recently sent a mailing with a quote attributed to me. I want to make it clear I did not approve this mailing or quote and I support\u00a0the endorsed Republican candidate, Dave Osmek, in Senate District 33.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Erik Paulsen<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>No word yet whether the <em>Star\/Tribune&#8217;s <\/em>editorial board thinks this is one of those &#8220;thoughtful, pragmatic&#8221; moves they <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startribune.com\/opinion\/editorials\/164941136.html?refer=y\">crowed <\/a>about in their endorsement over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>If you live in the 33, please vote accordingly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, we reported that Congressman Erik Paulsen (CD3) has endorsed Dave Osmek for the MInnesota State Senate in District 33.
