The other day I was thinking about the ever-increasing\u00a0forms of information and mental stimulation we are subjected to in the course of a day in America.<\/p>\n
I wonder if the modern human species has lost its ability to truly relax and do nothing; and in doing so, can the species achieve\u00a0a state of mental pause?<\/p>\n
I would submit that in order to relax, by definition, we have to shut\u00a0out all external inputs and information sources:<\/p>\n

\nChat
\nSatelite Radio
\nEmail
\nAmber Alerts
\nCell Phone
\niPod<\/p>\n
As unlikely as it is for someone to choose to do so, it is of course physically<\/em> possible but\u00a0that really isn’t the question is it?\u00a0Can we stop thinking<\/em> about what we are missing if we are not<\/em> connected? If so, how long does it take the brain to adjust?<\/p>\n Has anyone gone on a vacation recently and actually disconnected completely? Did it work?
