{"id":28812,"date":"2012-07-06T08:33:21","date_gmt":"2012-07-06T13:33:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=28812"},"modified":"2012-07-06T08:43:52","modified_gmt":"2012-07-06T13:43:52","slug":"this-is-your-obama-recovery-june-edition-holding-steady-at-awful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=28812","title":{"rendered":"This Is Your Obama Recovery, June Edition: Holding Steady At &#8220;Awful&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WIth a (as yet unrevised) job number of around 80K &#8211; a fraction of what&#8217;s needed to meeting population growth &#8211; the unemployment rate held steady at 8.2% with this morning&#8217;s Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers.<\/p>\n<p>But the actual Labor Force Participation Rate also <a href=\"http:\/\/data.bls.gov\/timeseries\/LNS11300000\">held steady at 63.8<\/a>%.<\/p>\n<p>That means the actual percentage of the work force that&#8217;s actually working &#8211; that 63.8% of people between the ages of 16 and 65 that are working, or\u00a0<em>trying <\/em>to work, and haven&#8217;t been out of work for longer than a year, and less all of the unemployed &#8211; is actually <strong>58.57%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>That&#8217;s two points <em>lower <\/em>than when Barack Obama took office.<\/li>\n<li>Thats 7\/100 of a percent better than in October of 2009, when unemployment peaked at 10%.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s half a percentage better than when participation bottomed out two months later, in December of 2009. \u00a0Which was a very brief downward spike, by the way &#8211; with rates in general being right about where they are today. \u00a0<em>Equal to the worst rates at the &#8220;bottom&#8221; of the recession<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>That&#8217;s almost five points lower that the best rate under the Bush Administration &#8211; and two and a half points lower than the worst rate Bush had (as he left office). \u00a0A fairer comparison? \u00a0Its 3.5% worse than the <em>bottom <\/em>of the rate during the post-9\/11 recession.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Face facts, America. \u00a0There is no recovery. \u00a0Obama&#8217;s &#8220;economic policy&#8221; is a joke.<\/p>\n<p>If America votes for four more years of this, it <em>deserves <\/em>what it gets.<\/p>\n<p>Update: \u00a0It&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weeklystandard.com\/blogs\/hispanic-unemployment-stuck-110-percent_648175.html\">worse if you&#8217;re Hispanic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Update2: \u00a0And <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/june-nonfarm-payrolls-report-2012-7\">worse still<\/a> if you&#8217;re black.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WIth a (as yet unrevised) job number of around 80K &#8211; a fraction of what&#8217;s needed to meeting population growth &#8211; the unemployment rate held steady at 8.2% with this morning&#8217;s Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers.
