{"id":28670,"date":"2012-06-27T12:00:23","date_gmt":"2012-06-27T17:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=28670"},"modified":"2012-06-27T07:48:56","modified_gmt":"2012-06-27T12:48:56","slug":"espresso-tastes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=28670","title":{"rendered":"Espresso Tastes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have a Windows laptop, a LInux desktop, and &#8211; over the last year or so &#8211; a couple of Apple devices (one of the upsides of being a contractor and being able to deduct business expenses).<\/p>\n<p>Macs are more expensive <del>than they&#8217;re worth<\/del> than Windows and Linux machines, and their users have developed &#8211; notwithstanding that I own some &#8211; a reputation as free-spending epicures.<\/p>\n<p>And after working in electronic commerce at a few points in my career, I think I&#8217;m most surprised to find that <em>every <\/em>e-commerce website\u00a0isn&#8217;t bumping up the &#8220;prestige&#8221; of Mac users&#8217; search results \u00a0&#8211; showing them the higher-priced books, downloads and hotel rooms higher up in their preferred search results.<\/p>\n<p>Which is, by the way, <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/article\/SB10001424052702304458604577488822667325882.html?mod=WSJ_hps_LEFTTopStories\">what Orbitz is doing<\/a>. \u00a0Not jacking up the prices &#8211; as the local TV anchors were saying this morning &#8211; but showing them the more expensive results first.<\/p>\n<p>Note to self; \u00a0plan next vacation from my Linux box.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a Windows laptop, a LInux desktop, and &#8211; over the last year or so &#8211; a couple of Apple devices (one of the upsides of being a contractor and being able to deduct business expenses).
