{"id":28033,"date":"2012-05-22T12:00:52","date_gmt":"2012-05-22T17:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=28033"},"modified":"2012-05-22T17:09:13","modified_gmt":"2012-05-22T22:09:13","slug":"the-foot-in-the-door-cd4-senate-candidates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=28033","title":{"rendered":"Foot In The Door:  CD4 Senate Candidates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we noted yesterday, House of Representatives candidates that can raise $1,500 in $50 increments can qualify for a sizable bump in financing from the state.<\/p>\n<p>Each Senate district covers double the area, \u00a0so it has to raise double the money \u00a0&#8211; $3,000 &#8211; for double the bump.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the MN Senate candidates in CD4.<\/p>\n<p>SD 38 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerchamberlain.org\/\">Roger Chamberlain<\/a> &#8211; I haven&#8217;t actually heard if incumbent Chamberlain has hit the hit the threshold yet &#8211; I wouldn&#8217;t doubt that he has. \u00a0But if you&#8217;re a Tea Partier, a Ron Paul supporter <em>or <\/em>a fiscal hawk of any stripe, Chamberlain is one of the brighter spots in what was a dismal year in the Senate. \u00a0It&#8217;d be a nice sign if he were not merely to win his race, but to <em>crush <\/em>his opponent. \u00a0He hasn&#8217;t updated his page for the new race yet &#8211; I&#8217;m sure that&#8217;s coming &#8211; but I suspect his &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rogerchamberlain.org\/donate.html\">donate<\/a>&#8221; link works just fine.<\/p>\n<p>SD 39 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rayvandeveer.org\/\">Ray Vandeveer<\/a>\u00a0Another incumbent, Vandeveer is a hawk that voted against the stadium and has been a solid conservative throughout.<\/p>\n<p>SD 41 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/ginabauman.com\/\">Gina Bauman<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Bauman, a New Brighton businesswoman and city councilwoman, is in her second campaign for the Senate. \u00a0She&#8217;s the kind of person we need more of in the Senate. \u00a0And SD41 is winnable &#8211; but getting the bump from the state would be a huge help. She&#8217;ll be up against Barb Goodwin. \u00a0Need I say more?.<\/p>\n<p>SD 42 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aprilkingforsenate.com\/\">April King<\/a>\u00a0is running in the new 42; the good news is it&#8217;s an open seat; the less-good news is that it&#8217;s one of those twisty-turny gerrymandered districts that pairs some good right-leaning districts up north with a few bat spittle crazy ones in Vadnais Heights. \u00a0But this is winnable; that extra bump from the state would help a lot. (UPDATE: I had an outdated link up there before; if you haven&#8217;t been there, go! \u00a0If you went to the old one, go back!)<\/p>\n<p>SD 53 &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/lillieforsenate.com\/\">Ted Lillie<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Ted&#8217;s another fiscal hawk. \u00a0I suspect he&#8217;s doing fine &#8211; but again, the worse he crushes his DFL opponent, the better. \u00a0Any help will be appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>SD 65 &#8211; <a href=\"RickforStateSenate.com\">Rick Karschnia<\/a>&#8216;s got a tough race &#8211; but I&#8217;l be donating, since it&#8217;s my district.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As we noted yesterday, House of Representatives candidates that can raise $1,500 in $50 increments can qualify for a sizable bump in financing from the state.
