{"id":27608,"date":"2012-04-24T12:00:35","date_gmt":"2012-04-24T17:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=27608"},"modified":"2015-04-27T12:20:30","modified_gmt":"2015-04-27T17:20:30","slug":"your-first-mistake-is-using-anything-ken-weiner-says-as-a-source","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=27608","title":{"rendered":"He Don&#8217;t Need No Stinking Facts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brian Lambert at the <em>MinnPost <\/em>reports on the story of&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;sorry. \u00a0I had quick chuckle there. \u00a0I&#8217;ll carry on.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Lambert wrote a piece in the <em>MinnPost <\/em>about the flap with Jack Tomczak&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;sorry. \u00a0I got overcome with a gale of laughter. \u00a0OK. \u00a0Pull it together, Mitch. \u00a0Here we go.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Lambert reported on&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Oh, my sides hurt. \u00a0Holy cow. \u00a0I couldn&#8217;t carry on with a straight face. \u00a0Wow.<\/p>\n<p>OK. \u00a0Let&#8217;s try this again. \u00a0Mark Dayton&#8217;s former communications chief Brian Lambert at the <em>MinnPost<\/em>\u00a0does exactly what the <em>MinnPost <\/em>pays him to do; serve as the uncovered intellectual and political id of the rest of the in-the-bag-for-the-DFL publication, in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.minnpost.com\/glean\/2012\/04\/only-one-finalist-u-m-athletic-director\">this piece about the Tomczak \/ Gleason flap<\/a>\u00a0(about which you read actual facts <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?tag=late-debate\">last week<\/a> on <em>Shot In The Dark<\/em>,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I posted an item recently about a former campaign operative for Tom Emmer and Michele Bachmann accused of stalking U of M professor Bill Gleason.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not sure if Lambert noted that Tomczak was &#8220;accused&#8221; of &#8220;Stalking&#8221; by a <del>dissociative narcissistic lunatic that tweets all day, every day, without cease, ever<\/del>\u00a0world-class researcher with the work-ethic of a beaver, honest.<\/p>\n<p>(Note to self: I <em>do <\/em>have to write a post about what &#8220;stalking&#8221; is, and perhaps give a few examples from the local blogging community to illustrate it. \u00a0Hint: \u00a0I don&#8217;t think it means going, one time, to a public building, but what do I know?)<\/p>\n<p>Y&#8217;see, the problem with Lambert is that he seems to consider &#8220;lefty narrative&#8221; a better &#8220;source&#8221; than &#8220;crap he hears in passing&#8221;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;although he uses plenty of that too:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Gleason filed an FCC complaint against Jack Tomczak, the former aide. After some negotiating, the local \u201cTea Party Radio Network\u201d station that carried Tomczak\u2019s show agreed that Tomczak would read an apology on the air.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Er, yeah.<\/p>\n<p>FM95.9 isn&#8217;t the &#8220;Tea Party Radio Network&#8221;. \u00a0It&#8217;s a little Christian station that plays old-time gospel music when it&#8217;s not running Jack and Ben. \u00a0The &#8220;Tea Party Radio Network&#8221; is a network in the same sense as the &#8220;Northern Alliance Radio Network&#8221; is; a wry little reference to the fact that we both do our shows on a shoestring. \u00a0Sort of like AM950, without all the self-righteousness.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As Gleason posts on his blog, Sunshine is the Best Disinfectant&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bla bla bla.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to know what <del>one of those old-fashioned ransom notes made by cutting letters out of magazine articles would look like if put online<\/del> the work of a world-class researcher with the work ethic of a dozen beavers looks like, read <em>Sunshine.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The situation prompted Andy Aplikowski at the conservative blog Residual Forces to post: \u201cDue to a thuggish left of liberal professor\u2019s intolerant tactics, the station that Late Debate with Jack and Ben is on has suspended Jack. It is time to get the best local talk show on a real station. Please contact Clear Channel and get them on air.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=27587\">We did in fact cover that here, as well<\/a>, over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s next that Lambert really screws the pooch:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Then, in turn, Ken Avidor at the liberal site Dump Bachmann writes: &#8220;&#8230;A Twitter cabal comprising of Bachmann fans Sheila Kihne and former St. Paul School Board candidate Tom &#8220;Swiftee&#8221; Swift is apparently attempting a reprisal by contacting University officials to complain about Professor Gleason.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>No, Brian,<\/p>\n<p>Swiftee&#8217;s been pursuing Gleason, all right. \u00a0I&#8217;ll save the details for later.<\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s been going on for <em>months<\/em>. \u00a0As in, since last November. \u00a0It predated the Tomczak flap by almost six months, and will likely be going on for many more.<\/p>\n<p>And by the way, it allegedly involved a <em>real <\/em>case of stalking; not a guy walking into a public building, announced and in the full light of day. \u00a0Swift&#8217;s case involves serious allegations of extremely inappropriate abuses of power. \u00a0The kind of thing that might wind up actually getting into newspapers with real reporters, who report on stories with facts and stuff, while Brian Lambert is busy requoting the likes of &#8220;Dump Bachmann&#8221; with a straight face.<\/p>\n<p>For the record? \u00a0A Magic Eight Ball is <em>always <\/em>a better source than Ken &#8220;Avidor&#8221; Weiner &#8211; or anyone that uses him for a source. \u00a0A coin toss, dog entrails or picking random letters out of a bowl of Alpha-Bits is better yet.<\/p>\n<p>And since the subject is &#8220;stalking&#8221;, maybe we should do a quick post one of these days to remind people what real &#8220;stalking&#8221; is, and who actually practices it, locally?<\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s all in the future. \u00a0The question now is: will Brian Lambert have the integrity it takes to straighten out his facts on the Swift \/ Gleason story?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brian Lambert at the MinnPost reports on the story of&#8230; &#8230;sorry. \u00a0I had quick chuckle there. \u00a0I&#8217;ll carry on.
