Our GOP Colleagues,<\/p>\n

I know, I know – we call you all sorts of names, we lie about you and your proposals in the press, and we make you endure Ryan “The Pauly Shore of the House” Winkler. \u00a0Most of all, we want to spend, spend, spend. \u00a0You’re right. It’s a fair cop.<\/p>\n

But we gotta give credit where credit is due. \u00a0 Holding the line on taxes and working to roll back regulations has <\/em>put the state on a much better fiscal footing than it might have been. \u00a0And holding the line on spending, keeping it within the recession-addled revenues we had two years ago, like you did in the 2011 session?<\/p>\n

I know, I know – we fought you tooth and nail, and said you hated the children and bla bla bla. \u00a0 But yep, not only did the February forecast show a surplus, but\u00a0\u00a0revenues are coming in even faster than the forecast thought<\/a>\u00a0it would.<\/p>\n

So kudos to you, GOP.<\/p>\n

Now – could you cut us a break on that whole “paying back the school funding shift” bit? \u00a0The treasury’s full of MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY…<\/p>\n

…sorry. \u00a0I got a little carried away. \u00a0Anyway, we’d like to make sure we have single-payer healthcare for pets. \u00a0And build a light-rail line from Uptown Minneapolis to Northeast Minneapolis. \u00a0And build MPR a new studio, in case their old studio breaks.<\/p>\n

Do it for the children.<\/p>\n
