{"id":27378,"date":"2012-04-10T12:45:53","date_gmt":"2012-04-10T17:45:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=27378"},"modified":"2012-04-10T13:08:28","modified_gmt":"2012-04-10T18:08:28","slug":"fortune-favors-the-bold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=27378","title":{"rendered":"Fortune Favors The Bold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To: The Minnesota GOP Legislative Caucuses<br \/>\nFrom: Mitch Berg, on behalf of a majority of MN voters<br \/>\nRe: He Who Dares Wins<\/p>\n<p>Dear House and Senate GOP Cauci:<\/p>\n<p>You remember us, right? \u00a0After you got your heads handed to you at the polls in 2006 and 2008, losing both chambers, we turned out in droves to put you all back in the majority in both chambers. \u00a0We looked at Obamacare&#8217;s price tag, and at Mark Dayton&#8217;s plans to rifle through our wallets (directly and indirectly), and at the feckless entitled-brat sloth of the ruling DFL supermajority, and your message &#8211; govern within our means, where &#8220;our means&#8221; doesn&#8217;t mean &#8220;everything we can grab from you&#8221; &#8211; resonated.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s stress; we did not sent you to Saint Paul because of any special affection for the MNGOP, or because we liked your smiles, or anything of the sort. \u00a0It was because you said you were going to make the tough choices, govern like you weren&#8217;t there to become part of government, and halt the unchecked growth of Minnesota&#8217;s bureaucracy and the government\/educational\/industrial complex.<\/p>\n<p>And you&#8217;ve done a decent job. in many ways &#8211; notwithstanding the collapse of the MInnesota Republican Party, naturally. \u00a0Reforming taxes, especially business taxes, is huge. \u00a0So is Voter ID; in a year, we&#8217;ll be a lot less like Chicago than we are now. \u00a0That&#8217;s all to the good.<\/p>\n<p>But let&#8217;s talk about Right to Work.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota is well down the path Wisconsin was, mortgaging our future to the well-being of the state employees&#8217; unions. \u00a0It needs to be stopped. \u00a0And you have not only the right bill &#8211; the &#8220;Right to Work&#8221; amendment &#8211; but the support of well over 2\/3 of Minnesotans, across all political spectra.<\/p>\n<p>Now, rumor has it there are 5-6 of you who are holding out &#8211; and the amendment needs three votes to get moving.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re going to keep calling the leaderhip &#8211; who at the House and Senate are&#8230;:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rep. Kurt Zellers<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Speaker of the House (rep.kurt.zellers@house.mn \/ 651-296-5502)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sen. David Senjem<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Senate Majority Leader (sen.david.senjem@senate.mn \/\u00a0651.296.3903)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230;but soon, we&#8217;ll have to start calling the rest of you. \u00a0<em>This has to happen<\/em>. \u00a0There is no excuse not to.<\/p>\n<p>We sent you there to change things. \u00a0This is one of the big changes that&#8217;s gotta happen.
