{"id":27291,"date":"2012-04-06T08:20:24","date_gmt":"2012-04-06T13:20:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=27291"},"modified":"2013-01-09T10:36:07","modified_gmt":"2013-01-09T16:36:07","slug":"you-are-the-editor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=27291","title":{"rendered":"You Are The Editor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of this blog&#8217;s more consistently popular long-running features is my &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?page_id=10054\">Climate of Hate<\/a>&#8221; page, in which I keep a running tally of episodes of liberals exercising their hatred of conservatives, usually via violence. \u00a0I started it at the height of the liberal media&#8217;s obsession with trying to find and pin an example of violence &#8211;<em>any <\/em>violence, any violence at all &#8211; on the Tea Party, to underscore the invariable accuracy of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?page_id=5033\">Berg&#8217;s \u00a0Seventh Law<\/a>: &#8220;<em>When a Liberal issues a group defamation or assault on conservatives\u2019 ethics, character or respect for liberty or the truth, they are at best projecting, and at worst drawing attention away from their own misdeeds<\/em>&#8220;. \u00a0 And there are a <em>lot <\/em>of misdeeds.<\/p>\n<p>And as we sift through the collapse of the media&#8217;s concerted, deliberate effort to frame the Martin case as a racial hate crime (and armed self-defense as a disaster, just to keep white liberals interested in the death of a black kid), it occurs to me &#8211; we need a similar feature for Media Witch Hunts.<\/p>\n<p>What I&#8221;m looking for is cases where the media arrived at a conclusion prejudicial to some conservative institution or belief, <em>looooong<\/em> before the facts warranted it. \u00a0Especially if the facts were completely at odds with the conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s too early to say with the Martin case &#8211; but a few other examples pop to mind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Duke Lacrosse Team<\/strong> case. \u00a0Not that rich lacrosse players are a &#8220;conservative institution&#8221;, but the case had a political side too&#8230;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tawanna Brawley<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The 35W Bridge Collapse<\/strong>, which a good chunk of the Twin Cities media tried to politicize before actual engineering set in.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anthropogenic Global Warming<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Burkett Papers<\/strong> \/ Sixty Minutes piece about George W.
