NBC’s editing of George Zimmerman’s 911 call just happened <\/em>to make his statement sound frothingly racist<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here’s what Today<\/em>\u00a0show listeners heard:<\/p>\n

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he\u2019s up to no good. He looks black.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here’s what he actually said:<\/p>\n

Zimmerman: This guy looks like he\u2019s up to no good. Or he\u2019s on drugs or something. It\u2019s raining and he\u2019s just walking around, looking about.<\/p>\n

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy \u2014 is he black, white or Hispanic?<\/p>\n

Zimmerman: He looks black.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Got that?<\/p>\n

The editing changed Zimmerman’s statement from an answer to a dispather’s request for information \u00a0into an affirmatively racist statement.<\/p>\n

No matter how you feel about Zimmerman, that bit of tape editing was unfair to the truth and to Zimmerman\u2019s reputation, such as it is. Reaction on Twitter and elsewhere to my previous post on this matter, was brutal toward NBC, with many comments suggesting the worst about the network\u2019s motivations, reliability and so on.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And why might that be?<\/p>\n

Because every editing “flub”, every “fake but accurate” story that gets past the “layers and layers of gatekeepers”, just happens to defame someone liberals want defamed<\/em>?<\/p>\n

Nah, it must be us.<\/p>\n

NBC “apologized”:<\/p>\n

During our investigation it became evident that there was an error made in the production process that we deeply regret. We will be taking the necessary steps to prevent this from happening in the future and apologize to our viewers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Read: “The damage we wanted done is done; the Democrat \/ media (ptr) narrative was served. \u00a0We’ll try to be more artful in our slander next time, so as not to get caught”.<\/p>\n
