{"id":2693,"date":"2008-06-11T12:05:28","date_gmt":"2008-06-11T17:05:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=2693"},"modified":"2008-06-11T12:05:28","modified_gmt":"2008-06-11T17:05:28","slug":"nothing-cooking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=2693","title":{"rendered":"Nothing Cooking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So tonight the two-part finale of <em>Top Chef <\/em>kicks off.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My grand unification theory for Bravo &#8220;reality&#8221; series is, at best, on life support.\u00a0 The theory is that each of these shows&#8217; final threes must include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An arrogant SOB<\/li>\n<li>A cute chick<\/li>\n<li>A hypertalented, usually gay, guy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It usually makes for a decent dramatic triangle; the guy everyone loves to hate, every girl&#8217;s best pal, and someone to keep the fellas tuned in.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So this year, we have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Richard, the hypertalented and not remotely arrogant straight guy.<\/li>\n<li>Stephanie, an extremely talented chef (she and Richard, if memory serves, won the most eliminations) albeit not Casey-Thompson-level eye candy.<\/li>\n<li>Lisa, the mercurial,\u00a0lesbian whose cooking during the show was seemingly hit-and-miss (she was a regular on the &#8220;chopping block&#8221; all season long), who beat out Antonia (who had, if memory serves, won several quickfires and a couple of eliminations, and who&#8217;d <em>never <\/em>been on the chopping block) in a <em>really <\/em>questionable call.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;m gonna give my theory another season before I officially retire it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So tonight the two-part finale of Top Chef kicks off.\u00a0 My grand unification theory for Bravo &#8220;reality&#8221; series is, at best, on life support.\u00a0 The theory is that each of these shows&#8217; final threes must include: An arrogant SOB A cute chick A hypertalented, usually gay, guy.
