{"id":26334,"date":"2012-02-21T04:29:17","date_gmt":"2012-02-21T10:29:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=26334"},"modified":"2012-02-20T23:34:48","modified_gmt":"2012-02-21T05:34:48","slug":"given-the-drumbeat-of-gun-control-prattle-from-the-left-lately","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=26334","title":{"rendered":"Given The Drumbeat Of Gun-Control Prattle From The Left Lately&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;it&#8217;s almost reassuring to see that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2012\/feb\/19\/violent-crime-dc-surges-2012\/\">gun violence in Washington DC, which along with Chicago is <em>the<\/em> model city for gun control, is skyrocketing<\/a>&#8230;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Violent crime so far this year in the District has spiked sharply \u2014 a 40 percent increase that includes twice as many robberies at gunpoint than at this time last year.<\/p>\n<p>Across the city, all police districts are reporting increases in violent crime, and all but one have had double-digit percentage increases, according to internal Metropolitan Police Department documents. The documents contained preliminary crime data for the city as of Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The crime rate is increasing this year after a downward trend \u2014 the number of reported homicides last year dropped to the lowest level in a half-century.<\/p>\n<p>Homicides were the only category of violent crime to decline in the first six weeks this year. As of Thursday, the city had recorded 10 homicides compared with 11 at a similar point last year.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, though, incidents of violent crime \u2014 homicides, sexual assaults, robberies and assaults with deadly weapons \u2014 are rising at an alarming pace.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8230;even as the Democrat orcs that govern our federal cesspool continue to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/blog\/guns\/2011\/oct\/5\/miller-emily-gets-her-gun\/\">stonewall the law-abiding gun owner<\/a> and the defy post-<em>Heller<\/em>\u00a0law of the land.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats!
