{"id":25188,"date":"2012-01-03T05:38:49","date_gmt":"2012-01-03T11:38:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=25188"},"modified":"2012-01-02T20:11:44","modified_gmt":"2012-01-03T02:11:44","slug":"lipstick-on-the-pig","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=25188","title":{"rendered":"Lipstick On The Pig"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Strib editorial board <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;ved=0CCcQFjAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fm.startribune.com%2Fopinion%2F%3Fid%3D136453913&amp;ei=dlwCT6nTM-GYiAKpzYzJDg&amp;usg=AFQjCNHP8s4QM-P7BVzlfLfmBKR1K99E6g&amp;sig2=xGLDHWXbBCrE0Y-8NfMJ_A\">made the latest installment<\/a> in its effort to make Governor Dayton appear to be anything other than utterly worthless and an utter failure in the first year of his misbegotten term in office.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00a0\u201cBut the DFL governor&#8217;s overall performance to date has been strong enough to win over skeptics, rally support from unexpected sources and earn the grudging respect of partisan opponents.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Who &#8211; Kelliher and Entenza supporters?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He has turned his political slogan &#8212; &#8220;Building a Better Minnesota&#8221; &#8212; into a credible description of not just intentions, but accomplishments.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I was going to fisk the <em>Strib&#8217;s <\/em>fluff-job &#8211; but <a href=\"http:\/\/looktruenorth.com\/60-culture\/far-left-madness\/18498-the-spectacular-failure-that-is-governor-dayton.html\">Luke Matthews already did it over at <em>True North<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/looktruenorth.com\/60-culture\/far-left-madness\/18498-the-spectacular-failure-that-is-governor-dayton.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.looktruenorth.com\/images\/FreedomDogs\/looktruenorthsmall140.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"140\" height=\"185\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And his response was about the same as mine:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Huh?<\/p>\n<p>Did someone set a bale of marijuana on fire in the offices of the StarTribune?\u00a0 Rather than rebut the entire article, which is as laughably contrived and fictional as to make Dr. Seuss blush, I\u2019ll give a recap of Governor Dayton\u2019s abysmal year as the \u201cFace of the DFL.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Governor Dayton was inaugurated in January of 2011 and since then his performance has been going downhill fast.\u00a0 He slapped together a ridiculous budget with every kind of payoff imaginable to the public sector unions and his DFL political cronies. \u00a0He proposed a gargantuan increase in spending and a myriad of tax increases.\u00a0 These tax increases couldn\u2019t begin to cover his explosive spending proposals, but that didn\u2019t deter him.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t just unreasonable, it was ridiculous.<\/p>\n<p>The legislature looked at the farce, turned on the shredders, and calmly inserted his proposal page by page into the garbage.\u00a0 Not even the minority DFL caucus put up much of a fight.\u00a0 The budget ignored reality, would have stymied economic growth in the state, and didn\u2019t even pretend to be for the population as a whole.\u00a0 It was a bad joke.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Beyond that?
