{"id":24629,"date":"2011-11-30T05:38:46","date_gmt":"2011-11-30T11:38:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=24629"},"modified":"2011-11-30T11:10:13","modified_gmt":"2011-11-30T17:10:13","slug":"the-stench-of-revenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=24629","title":{"rendered":"The Stench Of Revenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m of many minds about\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/sol\/homepage\/news\/3967502\/Tatt-poo-for-cheating.html\">\u00a0this story<\/a>\u00a0(the photos are at the link; it&#8217;s safe, but tasteless, for work).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Rossie Brovent wants \u00a360,000 in damages from Ryan Fitzjerald.<\/p>\n<p>Rossie, from Dayton, Ohio, US, wanted a scene from the Narnia trilogy inked on her back.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But thaaaat&#8217;s not what happened&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Instead she was left with a pile of excrement with flies buzzing around it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ms. Brovent&#8217;s ex-boyfriend had a reason&#8230;:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Tattoo artist Ryan turned rogue after discovering that Rossie had cheated on him with his best friend.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thoughts:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On the one hand &#8211; ick. \u00a0I mean &#8211; ick.<\/li>\n<li>On the other hand, it&#8217;s only in the details that it&#8217;s worse than most tattoos, especially full-back ink. \u00a0Note to people with full-back or ful-frontal tattoos; ugh. \u00a0Ugh ugh ugh. \u00a0That means you. \u00a0 Ick. \u00a0I mean &#8211; yes, again &#8211; Ick.<\/li>\n<li>Seriously. \u00a0Call me a child of another era &#8211; one where tattoos meant that someone had been in the military (good) or prison (not good), but I think America is going to wake up someday from its fixation with tattoos the same way people woke up from hair styles they tried back in the seventies &#8211; except they won&#8217;t be able to get a hair cut and burn a bunch of photos to eliminate the evidence. \u00a0Nothing short of third-degree burns will get you out of that.<\/li>\n<li>Seriously, Mr. Fitzjerald &#8211; not classy.<\/li>\n<li>And yet I&#8217;m curiously impelled to give you at least some style points.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I see an Administration ban on drunk tattooing coming up.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE\/CORRECTION: \u00a0When I wrote this, I wrote it more as a commentary on the battle of the sexes and on America&#8217;s gauche fixation with body art than as legal reporting. \u00a0I gotta confess, I also thought &#8220;reads like a hoax, and I&#8217;ll bet it&#8217;s henna&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Which is good, since the story is&#8230;well, at least all of the names and the legal action are apparently fake, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesmokinggun.com\/buster\/poop-tattoo-story-is-crap-8764319\">according to this story<\/a> from which, I note, all mention of the existence or permanence of <em>the tattoo itself <\/em>is absent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m of many minds about\u00a0\u00a0this story\u00a0(the photos are at the link; it&#8217;s safe, but tasteless, for work).
