{"id":2410,"date":"2008-04-09T14:39:44","date_gmt":"2008-04-09T19:39:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=2410"},"modified":"2008-04-09T14:39:44","modified_gmt":"2008-04-09T19:39:44","slug":"guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=2410","title":{"rendered":"Guilty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Myon Burrell has been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startribune.com\/local\/17421024.html\">convicted a second time<\/a> for the 2002 murder of Tyesha Edwards:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hennepin County Judge Charles Porter found Burrell guilty of two murder counts: first-degree murder and first-degree murder for the benefit of a gang. He was acquitted of several other charges.<\/p>\n<p>Edwards was shot in\u00a0the heart\u00a0as sat in her house in Minneapolis and did homework.<\/p>\n<p>The just ended trial is the second for Burrell in the 2002 shooting. He was convicted in 2003 of first-degree murder in Tyesha&#8217;s death, but the state Supreme Court set aside the conviction in 2005, saying a statement he made to police was inadmissible. Burrell has remained in jail in lieu of $1 million bail.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>The defense contends that the case was a rush to judgment and that Burrell was charged in a politically volatile atmosphere because of community outrage over Edwards&#8217; death.
