{"id":23692,"date":"2011-10-19T06:17:19","date_gmt":"2011-10-19T11:17:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=23692"},"modified":"2014-12-12T14:49:07","modified_gmt":"2014-12-12T20:49:07","slug":"occupy-your-wallet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=23692","title":{"rendered":"Occupy Your Wallet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Remember back in 2009? \u00a0When the Tea Party rally came to Saint Paul, did its business, set about the task of changing Minnesota and the US, and <em>paid their own bills &#8211; <\/em>which, naturally, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=4735\">launched a round of conspiracy theories<\/a> as to who paid for the materials and porta-potties and so forth?<\/p>\n<p>Well, &#8220;Occupy MN&#8221; certainly hopes you don&#8217;t. \u00a0The weeks-long excellent adventure for college &#8220;progressives&#8221; and superannuated hippies has cost you, the over-taxed Minneapolis and Henco taxpayer (and let&#8217;s be honest, probably the rest of us too) \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kare11.com\/news\/article\/942942\/391\/Occupy-MN-cost-for-Mpls-police-approaches-100000\">a quarter of a million dollars<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The cost of Occupy Minnesota protests is starting to add up for Minneapolis police. Tuesday afternoon, Sgt. William Palmer says the total cost to the Minneapolis Police Department is closing in $100,000.<\/p>\n<p>Palmer says the city has had to pay $43,500 for approximately 726 hours of overtime. &#8220;While the MPD has worked proactively to reduce overtime this year, these hours were unavoidable,&#8221; said a statement from Minneapolis police.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Minneapolis police say approximately 1,245 hours have been spent in the planning and support of the protest prior to the overtime.
