{"id":2327,"date":"2008-03-26T12:01:01","date_gmt":"2008-03-26T17:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=2327"},"modified":"2008-03-26T12:01:01","modified_gmt":"2008-03-26T17:01:01","slug":"oh-you-mean-the-wrong-kind-of-politicization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=2327","title":{"rendered":"Oh, You Mean The <i>Wrong <\/i>Kind Of Politicization?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Remember &#8211; when the principle at Forest Lake High School cancelled the Vets for Freedom assembly, he claimed the event (which had reportedly agreed to eschew politics), was &#8220;too political&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Well, good heavens &#8211; we wouldn&#8217;t want <em>politics<\/em> in our schools, would we?<br \/>\nP-Short, writing at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.truthvmachine.com\/?p=5686\">TvM <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.looktruenorth.com\/liberty\/free-speech-press\/37-free-speechpress\/2355-vets-in-schools--not-ok-dem-campaign-events-in-schools--a-ok.html\">True Nort<\/a>h, notes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Back in 2004, Patty Wetterling held her campaign kickoff announcement at a public school during the school day.\u00a0 I do not recall complaints from liberals.\u00a0 I do seem to recall, though my memory could be faulty, the school\u2019s logo prominently featured on the podium or perhaps behind the candidate.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Of course, if you&#8217;ve ever had kids in the schools (and not just public ones!), you know the drill; the kids are <em>endlessly <\/em>drilled in the PC interpretations of Global Warming, the War on Terror, social issues &#8211; pretty much everything.\u00a0 They <em>bus kids to the capitol, <\/em>to serve as captive picketers for Education Minnesota&#8217;s various legislative pushes, at events planned on school time, and that use school functions to recruit parents to <em>help <\/em>use their kids as political props!<\/p>\n<p>And the Saint Paul Public Schools &#8211; they&#8217;d <em>never <\/em>stoop to partisan politics to pander to the politically powerful.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/saturn.spps.org\/A_New_Beginning.html\">Would they<\/a>?\u00a0 (Yes, I know &#8211; naming schools after public figures is nothing new.\u00a0 But there&#8217;s a level of reverence for the &#8220;Wellstone Legacy&#8221; involved at the school, and in the SPPS, that takes it a few notches beyond, say &#8220;Roosevelt Elementary&#8221;, my elementary mater).<\/p>\n<p>For the record, I honestly don&#8217;t care if school present kids with <em>all kinds <\/em>of politics &#8211; indeed, they might learn to be better citizens.<\/p>\n<p>But Flake High&#8217;s capitulation had nothing to do with poltics; by all appearances, it was about <em>the &#8220;threat&#8221; of the wrong kind of politics.<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Remember &#8211; when the principle at Forest Lake High School cancelled the Vets for Freedom assembly, he claimed the event (which had reportedly agreed to eschew politics), was &#8220;too political&#8221;.
