{"id":22665,"date":"2011-09-06T12:01:16","date_gmt":"2011-09-06T17:01:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=22665"},"modified":"2011-09-06T15:05:36","modified_gmt":"2011-09-06T20:05:36","slug":"correction-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=22665","title":{"rendered":"Correction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier today, I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=22657\">wrote about an op-ed from over the weekend<\/a> in the <em>Strib<\/em>. \u00a0Reading it, I assumed that the piece &#8211; by &#8220;Hinda Mandell&#8221;, formerly of Edina &#8211; was incredibly bad, overly over-the-top,\u00a0broad-to-the-point-of-unfunny, stereotype-clogged parody.<\/p>\n<p>Mandell is, in fact, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?rlz=1C1CHKZ_enUS440US440&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;q=hinda+mandell\">a real person<\/a>,\u00a0with\u00a0<a style=\"text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/hindamandell\">a twitter feed<\/a>\u00a0of her own; Ms. Mandell is apparently\u00a0a real mid-level &#8220;communications&#8221; academic whose brief seems, ironicaly, to include parsing communication so finely for the wispiest hint of perceived victimization that &#8220;communication&#8221; of any type will eventually be rendered impossible. \u00a0The article was apparently on the level. \u00a0Not to mention the first thing I&#8217;ve ever read that was actually too dumb to be on <em>Minnesota Progressive Project<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Rhodes figured it out before me &#8211; and after almost ten years of blogging, he&#8217;s just as worth reading as he ever was, by the way. He commemorated Ms. Mandell&#8217;s raving with the gifts of art&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ramblingrhodes.mu.nu\/archives\/320953.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/ramblingrhodes.mu.nu\/archives\/DinoThoughts.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;<a href=\"http:\/\/ramblingrhodes.mu.nu\/archives\/320953.html\">and fisk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Who says there&#8217;s a higher education bubble? Note to aspiring communication students: Avoid the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, lest you come out of college much, much, MUCH dumber than when you went in.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Anyway &#8211; I guess there are a couple of lessons from this whole thing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We have too many academics.<\/li>\n<li>The higher ed bubble is about to explode.
