After losing 7,200 jobs in June, Illinois lost an additional 24,900 non-farm payroll jobs in July.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I tweeted about this last night. \u00a0Someone said &#8220;but what about as a percent of population!&#8221;, they responded with a rhetorical smirk.<\/p>\n<p>Premature, naturally (emphasis added):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The report also said <strong>Illinois\u2019s unemployment rate climbed to 9.5 percent.<\/strong> This marks the third consecutive month of increases in the unemployment rate.<\/p>\n<p>Illinois started to create jobs as the national economy began to recover. But just when Illinois\u2019s economy seemed to be turning around, lawmakers passed record tax increases in January of this year.
