{"id":21177,"date":"2011-07-20T05:23:50","date_gmt":"2011-07-20T11:23:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=21177"},"modified":"2011-07-19T20:33:41","modified_gmt":"2011-07-20T02:33:41","slug":"i-need-of-splainin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=21177","title":{"rendered":"In Need Of &#8216;Splainin&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have a question for the media types in the audience.<\/p>\n<p>But first, an homage to the best wife of the day, Yesterday edition: \u00a0Wendi Murdoch, who clocked dipsh*t Brit &#8220;comedian&#8221; <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Robert &#8220;Glittery Pony&#8221; Erickson<\/span> &#8220;Jonnie Marbles&#8221; after his asinine shaving-cream pie attack on Rupert Murdoch:<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"286\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gxdBPNYZ1CQ\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n Punch happens at about the :34 mark.<\/p>\n<p>Kudos.<\/p>\n<p>Now &#8211; let&#8217;s be clear on the fact that Britiish tabloid-style &#8220;journalism&#8221; is unacceptable.  Of course, nobody&#8217;s come up with any evidence that any of Murdoch&#8217;s American properties have done any of the same kind of hacking &#8211; indeed, due to technical and procedural differences in the way British and US telcos handle cell phone security, it&#8217;d be more difficult, albeit not impossible, to hack into American cell phones.<\/p>\n<p>But let&#8217;s talk ideology.  <\/p>\n<p>When someone points to, say, a very liberal person, family or group owning or publishing a newspaper &#8211; think the Sulzbergers at the <i>NYTimes<\/i>, or Joel Kramer at the <i>Strib<\/i> &#8211; newsies always say &#8220;No!  No no no!  There is a rigid dividing line between the newsroom and the business!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But with Murdoch &#8211; let me try to keep this straight &#8211; the front office has intimate control over everything going on in the newsroom?<\/p>\n<p>Just curious. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a question for the media types in the audience.
