{"id":20781,"date":"2011-06-30T06:17:26","date_gmt":"2011-06-30T12:17:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=20781"},"modified":"2011-06-30T06:17:26","modified_gmt":"2011-06-30T12:17:26","slug":"todays-alexander-haig-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=20781","title":{"rendered":"Today&#8217;s Alexander Haig Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A &#8220;wave&#8221; of gun violence prompts a Philadelphia &#8216;burb\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/philadelphia.cbslocal.com\/2011\/06\/25\/with-state-of-emergency-in-place-a-calm-night-in-darby-borough\/\">to send the entire city to time-to-think<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Darby Borough, Delaware County is under a State of Emergency due to a recent uptick of gun violence.<\/p>\n<p>Five shootings in three days led to the announcement Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Helen Thomas [heh] announced the state of emergency telling residents the gun violence had to stop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI Mayor Helen R Thomas declare a state of emergency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials say the shootings were not fatal and they seem unrelated, but something had to be done to curb the violence.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And that answer; keep the law-abiding majority penned up in their houses.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>An 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew is in effect for adults and juveniles for at least 10 days.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone outside during that time can be stopped and questioned by police, though Police Chief Bob Smythe says they\u2019re more concerned about groups loitering or causing trouble.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re in a group of more than three people and you are causing a disturbance.
