Joel Rosenberg apparently got a lot of crap from cops for his coverage of the Hixon case<\/a> –\u00a0 in which a couple of police, responding to a bank robbery they’d been told involved a white guy, grabbed and (according to the ensuing lawsuit) “jumped-and-thumped” a black guy.\u00a0 The case resulted in a big lawsuit and settlement in Hixon’s favor.<\/p>\n

Later, Joel heard<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“I showed that to another friend of mine,” he said.\u00a0 “Retired cop.”<\/p>\n

“And?”<\/p>\n

“He went off.\u00a0 ‘Who is<\/em> this bastard and why is he saying this shit?'”<\/p>\n

“So, I said, ‘he’s right, you know.'”<\/p>\n

“‘Yeah, but that bastard shouldn’t be saying<\/em> it.'”<\/font><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
