{"id":203,"date":"2006-12-19T06:52:10","date_gmt":"2006-12-19T12:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shotinthedark.info\/wp\/index.php\/2006\/12\/19\/a-modest-inexpensive-in-your-face-proposal\/"},"modified":"2014-05-21T16:43:59","modified_gmt":"2014-05-21T21:43:59","slug":"a-modest-inexpensive-in-your-face-proposal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=203","title":{"rendered":"A Modest, Inexpensive, In Your Face Proposal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Virtually everyting that any Minnesotan has ever done is the subject of some memorial or another.<\/p>\n<p>And yet the biggest single event of most of our lifetimes &#8211; the event that&#8217;s touched the most of us, for the better &#8211; goes unmemorialized.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesotans; it is time to build the Cold War Memorial.<\/p>\n<p>Think about it; the tools that brought the end the the Cold War (under the leadership of Ronald Reagan, after America threw off the moldy, defeatist political hairshirt of the Carter years) have been largely discarded, and are availble for a song (often for $1, you haul).<\/p>\n<p>Think of it; we could get a Lafayette class ballistic missile submarine&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/nova\/lostsub\/images\/hist1945_07.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>or one of these babies&#8230;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"80%\" src=\"http:\/\/www.defenseindustrydaily.com\/images\/MIL_AMARC_B-52s_lg.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8230;and park it on the Capitol Mall as a monument to the greatest war never fought!<\/p>\n<p>And on a memorial wall surrounding it, we could carve the names of the six million Minnesotans <em>not <\/em>killed in the Cold War!<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s get on this!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Virtually everyting that any Minnesotan has ever done is the subject of some memorial or another.
