If you follow the “logic” behind Andy Birkey’s piece (and like all lefty memes, it came from Birkey’s superiors; Phyllis Kahn was mumbling the same sort of tripe a few weeks ago<\/a>), that…:<\/p>\n

If <\/strong>you have even been divorced – in other words, if some part of your life or paper trail is inconsistent with the position, Then <\/strong>you have no business debating what “marriage” is…<\/p>\n

…then consistency more or less demands you apply that same logic throughout.<\/p>\n

  • If <\/strong>you, for any reason,<\/em> didn’t get a 4.0 average in high school,\u00a0Then <\/strong>you should recuse yourself from discussion about improving academic performance. \u00a0After all, you must have exhibited perfection<\/em> in the past for your opinion to count!<\/li>\n
  • If <\/strong>you had an abortion, for whatever reason,\u00a0Then <\/strong>you should not be debating abortion. \u00a0Who needs people who’ve made mistakes<\/em> deciding policy, right?<\/li>\n

  • If <\/strong>you are, for whatever reason, not earning over $150,000 a year,\u00a0Then <\/strong>you should be barred from discussions about taxing the “rich”.<\/li>\n
  • If <\/strong>you ever got a traffic ticket,\u00a0Then <\/strong>you should be barred from legislating on transportation. Perfection, people!<\/li>\n
  • If <\/strong>you, for any reason, have ever had any run-in with any <\/em>law over any <\/em>issue,\u00a0Then <\/strong>you shouldn’t be making laws. \u00a0Remember – Andy Birkey and Phyllis Kahn have demanded perfection fron all of…you.<\/li>\n
  • If <\/strong>you live in a city that gets local government aid,\u00a0Then <\/strong>you should shut up about LGA. Giving residents of LGA-receiving cities a legislative voice is like allowing inmates to ask for cell keys.<\/li>\n
  • If <\/strong>you write for a Soros-funded publication,\u00a0Then <\/strong>you shouldn’t refer to other peoples’ “zealotry”…oh, wait. \u00a0That one isn’t satire.<\/li>\n
  • If <\/strong>you are not a businessperson,\u00a0Then <\/strong>you should not discuss business taxes or job creation.<\/li>\n
  • If <\/strong>you are a public employee union member,\u00a0Then <\/strong>you should never, never voice an opinion on public policy that affects entrepreneurship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
