{"id":1919,"date":"2008-01-07T13:00:52","date_gmt":"2008-01-07T18:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=1919"},"modified":"2008-01-07T13:45:27","modified_gmt":"2008-01-07T18:45:27","slug":"well-that-settles-that-then","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=1919","title":{"rendered":"Well, That Settles That, Then"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every once in a while, I like to ponder the big mysteries.\u00a0 Where <em>did <\/em>we come from?\u00a0 Can the City Pages write <em>so much stuff<\/em> about Diablo Cody that even G-d can&#8217;t read it all?<\/p>\n<p>And, speaking of which, what about God?<\/p>\n<p>But Emily Condon <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.citypages.com\/2008-01-02\/feature\/christopher-hitchens\/\">apparently has <em>all <\/em>the answers<\/a>.\u00a0 In the <em>City Pages&#8217; <\/em>Artistes of the Year edition, she reviews Christopher Hitchens&#8217; <em>God Is Not Great<\/em>, and, by way of lauding the pseudo-atheist thesis, notes (emphasis added):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Far from the vitriolic diatribe of a God-hating misanthrope like Richard Dawkins, Hitchens&#8217;s work is both appropriately respectful <strong>and right<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hm.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>City Pages is <\/em>the source of all knowledge, apparently.<\/p>\n<p>Who knew?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--> I also wonder &#8211; will the <em>Pages <\/em>&#8220;Artist of the Year&#8221; have the same jinx as their &#8220;Best Band&#8221; award (the &#8220;winners&#8221; almost inevitably break up or fall on hard times or, in the case of last year&#8217;s &#8220;winner&#8221; Tapes &#8216;n Tapes, are boring and suck terribly)?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every once in a while, I like to ponder the big mysteries.\u00a0 Where did we come from?\u00a0 Can the City Pages write so much stuff about Diablo Cody that even G-d can&#8217;t read it all?
