{"id":16788,"date":"2010-12-28T05:30:28","date_gmt":"2010-12-28T11:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=16788"},"modified":"2010-12-27T19:15:04","modified_gmt":"2010-12-28T01:15:04","slug":"16788","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=16788","title":{"rendered":"Outfoxed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yet another &#8220;study&#8221; made the rounds a few weeks ago claiming that Fox News viewers are less well-informed than the average news consumer.<\/p>\n<p>These things have been going around and around &#8211; and getting debunked &#8211; for so long, it&#8217;s hard to even pay attention anymore.\u00a0\u00a0 There will, inevitably, be a savage debunking.\u00a0 It never fails.<\/p>\n<p>And so there is; the &#8220;study&#8221;, accepted as gospel by everyone from your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;source=web&amp;cd=3&amp;ved=0CCMQFjAC&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fthinkprogress.org%2F2009%2F08%2F19%2Ffox-news-viewers-misinformed%2F&amp;rct=j&amp;q=poll%20fox%20news%20viewers%20misinformed&amp;ei=NDYZTZykMp6pnAfupIHVDg&amp;usg=AFQjCNGVuiN_RW3zbpZXJzeRyuaHYQ9TeQ&amp;sig2=0L-M6j0MB34xztX8CdGIYg&amp;cad=rja\">slack-jawed corner leftyblogger<\/a> to the HuffPo to the NYTimes (pardon the redundancy) isn&#8217;t worth the electrons it was printed on.\u00a0 The study:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Didn&#8217;t test what it claimed,<\/li>\n<li>The data collected supported opposite conclusions than what was claimed,<\/li>\n<li>The &#8220;study&#8221; contained a trick question<\/li>\n<li>It contained baseless conclusions.<\/li>\n<li>It presented highly disputed conclusions as fact &#8211; and, in the bargain, it presented policy points from left-of-center groups as the &#8220;Truth&#8221;, differing from which meant that one was &#8220;misinformed&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In short, the &#8220;study&#8221; was no more valid than, say, a Humphrey Institute poll.\u00a0 Oh, yeah &#8211; and it&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;ved=0CBYQFjAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fbigjournalism.com%2Fwthuston%2F2010%2F12%2F20%2Fsoros-funded-university-poll-says-fox-news-viewers-most-misinformed-politically%2F&amp;rct=j&amp;q=poll%20fox%20news%20viewers%20misinformed&amp;ei=NDYZTZykMp6pnAfupIHVDg&amp;usg=AFQjCNE9FAJKmqJVO16LZFkyDntSqK5qYw&amp;sig2=58Qj_nbIeJcKbXE3bIQgRg&amp;cad=rja\">funded by George Soros<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=O8KHOgyYyHQ\">whole debunk is on video here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Watch it, and remember &#8211; if more than one liberal group claims something to be a fact, 99% of the time it is a lie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yet another &#8220;study&#8221; made the rounds a few weeks ago claiming that Fox News viewers are less well-informed than the average news consumer.
