{"id":16102,"date":"2010-12-10T06:41:32","date_gmt":"2010-12-10T12:41:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=16102"},"modified":"2010-12-10T06:41:32","modified_gmt":"2010-12-10T12:41:32","slug":"political-prisoner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=16102","title":{"rendered":"Political Prisoner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wanna good laugh for the\u00a0 morning?<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a scan from Henco&#8217;s complaint against Joel Rosenberg:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.bennettandbennett.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Screen-shot-2010-12-09-at-10.55.51-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"879\" height=\"193\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now, as I&#8217;ve ascertained, I&#8217;m no lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>But Mark Bennett is.\u00a0 And he&#8217;s got the ultimate write-up, so far, of the Rosenberg case.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.bennettandbennett.com\/2010\/12\/sgt-william-palmer.html\">It&#8217;s over at his blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The warrant is for the felony of carrying a firearm in the courthouse. Because carrying a firearm in the courthouse complex\u00a0<em>is<\/em> a felony\u2014except for \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/?id=609.66\">persons who carry pistols according to the terms of a permit issued under section 624.714 and who so notify the sheriff or the commissioner of public safety, as appropriate<\/a>\u201c\u2014which, oddly enough, is a category into which Joel neatly fits. And except that the city hall is not\u00a0<em>really<\/em> a part of the courthouse complex, but a judge says it is.<\/p>\n<p>The warrant is also for contempt of court because, you see, there was a judge\u2019s order declaring the police station a courthouse (how many legs does a dog have, if a judge says that a tail is a leg?) and barring citizens from carrying firearms there\u2014except that, among other problems, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.revisor.mn.gov\/statutes\/?id=624.714\">no sheriff, police chief, governmental unit, government official, government employee, or other person or body acting under color of law or governmental authority may \u2026 limit the exercise of a permit to carry<\/a>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bennett, a defense attorney in Texas, points out the rather odd circumstances of\u00a0 a judge INSERT A VERB a court order that didn&#8217;t even have a charge filled in:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Yes, it is in fact alleged that he DESCRIBE BEHAVIOR in contempt of the Hennepin County Juvenile Court. Now, I ask you: can we really have people like Joel Rosenberg going around DESCRIBE BEHAVIOR? I say not, and I say we should DESCRIBE KANGAROO PROCEDURE and then DESCRIBE BIZARRE AND PAINFUL PUNISHMENT them.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t ordinarily pick on other people\u2019s judges\u2014Texas being a target-rich environment\u2014but what kind of Ruben-Guerrero judge is Janet Poston, to sign an arrest warrant based on the allegation that someone has DESCRIBE BEHAVIOR?\u00a0<em>She didn\u2019t even bother to read the papers.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Conclusion?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So Rosenberg will sit in jail dealing with his health problems, and Rosenberg will fight the case, and Rosenberg will win the case. And, before all is said and done, Sergeant Palmer\u2019s little self-esteem-fluffing exercise will cost the city a pretty penny.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Read the whole thing.<\/p>\n<p>And I hope that when Joel&#8217;s lawsuit is over he has the City of Minneapolis by the DESCRIBE A TENDER PIECE OF ANATOMY, and walks out with DESCRIBE ABSURD AMOUNT OF MONEY.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wanna good laugh for the\u00a0 morning?
