{"id":14729,"date":"2010-10-31T12:00:56","date_gmt":"2010-10-31T17:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=14729"},"modified":"2014-10-05T14:38:38","modified_gmt":"2014-10-05T19:38:38","slug":"top-five-reasons-emmer-should-be-governor-2-moving-minnesota-forward","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=14729","title":{"rendered":"Top Five Reasons Emmer Should Be Governor &#8211; #2: Moving Minnesota Forward"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For all the left&#8217;s and media&#8217;s caterwauling about &#8220;bipartisanship&#8221;, Tom Emmer is the only candidate in the race who actually calls for it.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, Mark Dayton yaks about &#8220;reaching across the aisle&#8221;, but he showed that hand five years ago, when he told the world that his political opponents are, ironically, sick and depraved:<br \/>\n<object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"425\" height=\"343\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/5nRoGNqiHBY?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"425\" height=\"343\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/5nRoGNqiHBY?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>The DFL&#8217;s record of &#8220;bipartisanship&#8221; works like this; do everything they want without question, maybe they&#8217;ll say nice things about you. \u00a0There is no &#8220;bipartisanship&#8221; in the DFL; only power.<\/p>\n<p>How &#8220;bipartisan&#8221; is Mark Dayton going to be? \u00a0Look at the scorched-earth campaign his minions at Alliance for a &#8220;Better&#8221; Minnesota are running. \u00a0<em>They don&#8217;t care who they insult, attack or destroy today<\/em>, because tomorrow they plan on governing absolutely, or not at all.<\/p>\n<p>As to Tom Horner? \u00a0His &#8220;bipartisanship&#8221; is like that of, say, Liechtenstein; with no legislative presence, and no propsect of any ever forming, the Independence Party needs to curry favor in a &#8220;bipartisan&#8221; manner with whomever they can &#8211; like any good hooker. \u00a0Horner &#8211; on the imponderably tiny chance he wins, and that&#8217;s something I just mention out of intellectual curiosity &#8211; will have to be &#8220;bipartisan&#8221; to have any influence at all. \u00a0Which is one of many reasons he&#8217;ll do well to finish with 10% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>Emmer? \u00a0His is the only candidacy that has said, repeatedly, that this is go time for <em>all <\/em>Minnesotans, of all political stripes. \u00a0He&#8217;s run a clean, idealistic campaign &#8211; because he knows every bridge he burns is one he&#8217;ll have to rebuild once it comes time to try to get this state working again. \u00a0Contrast that with Alliance for a Better Minnesota&#8217;s slimy, craven campaign of personal and group attacks. \u00a0Who do <em>you <\/em>call &#8220;bipartisan&#8221; &#8211; or, to pick a much better word, who do you call &#8220;genuinely committed to bringing everyone to the table?<\/p>\n<p>Emmer is the candidate who is committed to making <em>positive <\/em>change.<\/p>\n<p>Isn&#8217;t that what we need?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Previous Reasons Emmer Should Be Governor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>#3: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=14726\">The Overhaul<\/a><\/p>\n<p>#4:\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0066cc; text-decoration: none;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=14728\">Buck The Narrative<\/a><\/p>\n<p>#5: \u00a0<a style=\"color: #0066cc; text-decoration: none;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=14727\">Our Better Nature<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For all the left&#8217;s and media&#8217;s caterwauling about &#8220;bipartisanship&#8221;, Tom Emmer is the only candidate in the race who actually calls for it.
