{"id":14469,"date":"2010-10-19T05:42:30","date_gmt":"2010-10-19T10:42:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=14469"},"modified":"2011-10-20T10:33:15","modified_gmt":"2011-10-20T15:33:15","slug":"oberstar-breaking-the-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=14469","title":{"rendered":"Oberstar Breaking The Law?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The other day Politico did a piece about\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/1010\/43734.html\">Jim Oberstar&#8217;s fundraising, and how little of it comes from within the Eighth District<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And one of his staffers apparently knows something the rest of is don&#8217;t. \u00a0Or didn&#8217;t. \u00a0 Emphasis added:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThey are taking lawn signs, putting up lawn signs, making voter-contact calls, door-knocking, distributing campaign [literature],\u201d [Oberstar staffer Jim] Schadl told POLITICO in an e-mail. Moreover, Schadl, says, <strong>there are another 527 waiting in the wings to help out in the final run-up to the election<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Er&#8230;campaigns aren&#8217;t supposed to act in collusion with 527s.<\/p>\n<p>Because that&#8217;s how they get money out of politics. \u00a0Y&#8217;know. \u00a0By preventing politics from being polluted by money. \u00a0From businesses or unions.<\/p>\n<p>If we had a functional mainstream media in this state, full of bright, curious people whose job it was, say, to dig into stories like this &#8211; people like, I dunno, Pat Kessler or Erik Eskola or Tim Pugmire (not to keep picking on Pugmire; I just don&#8217;t want to have to wing it trying to spell Mark Zdechlek) &#8211; perhaps the people of Minnesota might find out if there was there, there, story-wise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The other day Politico did a piece about\u00a0Jim Oberstar&#8217;s fundraising, and how little of it comes from within the Eighth District.
