{"id":13558,"date":"2010-09-17T06:08:23","date_gmt":"2010-09-17T11:08:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=13558"},"modified":"2011-10-20T10:27:31","modified_gmt":"2011-10-20T15:27:31","slug":"the-a-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=13558","title":{"rendered":"The A List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back when Hugh Hewitt was in town a few weeks back, I was asked to predict the biggest surprise in Minnesota this fall.<\/p>\n<p>My response &#8211; while I thought an Emmer win might surprise some people, I thought the best potential was for Randy Demmer to upset Tim Walz.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.startribune.com\/politics\/blogs\/103052714.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&amp;utm_medium=twitter\">National Republican Congressional Committee agrees<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The National Republican Congressional Committee announced Thursday that they were elevating Walz\u2019s challenger, Republican Randy Demmer, to their \u201cYoung Guns\u201d list. For Demmer, it means the national party will provide him with additional support during the final stretch of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Young Gun status will put Demmer on the map in GOP fundraising circles, which could be a crucial factor to overcoming his significant cash disadvantage.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;d be great to win that district back.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Cook Political Report rates Walz\u2019s district as having an R+1 partisan voting index, but trending \u201clikely Democratic\u201d this fall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRandy Demmer has proven that he\u2019s ready to take on incumbent Tim Walz, an out-of-touch Democrat who has blindly supported his party\u2019s failed agenda of job-killing policies and reckless spending,\u201d NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions, R-TX, said in a statement.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Look for a Minnesota Poll shortly showing Walz with a 20 point lead&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back when Hugh Hewitt was in town a few weeks back, I was asked to predict the biggest surprise in Minnesota this fall.
