{"id":12811,"date":"2010-08-23T05:29:02","date_gmt":"2010-08-23T10:29:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=12811"},"modified":"2016-03-10T10:26:05","modified_gmt":"2016-03-10T16:26:05","slug":"chalk-one-up-for-the-good-guys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=12811","title":{"rendered":"Chalk One Up For The Good Guys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Make no mistake about it &#8211; killing a human being, even in self-defense, is a tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of homicide justified in self-defense, it&#8217;s the <em>second-<\/em>worst tragedy there is.<\/p>\n<p>The Hennepin County Attorney has\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.myfoxtwincities.com\/dpp\/news\/metro\/bouncer-not-charged-grumpys-shooting-aug-20-2010\">h declined to prosecute Christopher Lamotte<\/a> &#8211; a bouncer at Grumpy&#8217;s Bar, in Northeast Minneapolis &#8211; for the shooting of Tirso Gomez. \u00a0Gomez allegedly attacked the bouncer with a knife after a closing-time altercation outside the bar:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div>\n<p>Minneapolis police asked that no charges be filed, as investigators thought it was a justified killing. Prosecutors agreed, telling FOX 9\u2019s Paul Blume on Friday it was \u201ca valid claim of self defense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Hennepin County attorney&#8217;s office said bouncers are not afforded any special privileges in their role as security enforcers at bars and clubs. The right to have a weapon on site is up to individual management and ownership.
