So as you’ve heard, there was a rape in Saint Paul last week<\/a>.\u00a0 It was a brutal assault – and, worst of all, a bunch of neighbors saw the attack, and did nothing about it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I’m involved in an email discussion group for Saint Paul politics.\u00a0 And here’s a sampling of the conversation.\u00a0 Our first subject – a prominent Saint Paul DFL fixer:<\/p>\n

It is sad that so many people have become motivated by only two things
\n\u00a0 greed and fear.\u00a0 But, then when that is all they get from talk radio what
\n\u00a0 does one expect?\u00a0 Over and over again people are bombarded with how much\u00a0 they\u00a0 have to\u00a0fear and that someone is out to take their stuff away from\u00a0 them.\u00a0\u00a0 Protect what is yours don’t worry about the other guy.\u00a0 It is\u00a0 the poor’s fault\u00a0 that they are poor.\u00a0 If a child can’t succeed in school\u00a0 its is fault.\u00a0 Its\u00a0 them liberals that want to steal my money… If a woman\u00a0 was raped its her
\nfault.\u00a0 Heck, she’s out there in the hallway with him,\u00a0 making noise in my
\nbuilding… just like Bill O’ says.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I usually pull back when I hear the likes of Michael Savage call liberalism a “mental disorder” – but I have to wonder about some of these people.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So Bill O’Reilly – assuming he really says anything the author accuses him of – speaks for all conservatives?\u00a0 Even all conservatives in talk radio?<\/p>\n

Where does that <\/em>come from?<\/p>\n

And I’d be interested in seeing what’d happen if anyone were dumb enough to try to rape someone in an apartment building in, say, Lusk Wyoming?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
