{"id":11815,"date":"2010-07-07T11:59:28","date_gmt":"2010-07-07T16:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=11815"},"modified":"2014-10-05T14:37:44","modified_gmt":"2014-10-05T19:37:44","slug":"watching-the-watchdogs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=11815","title":{"rendered":"Watching The Watchdogs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bill Salisbury, the longtime Capitol reporter for the <em>PiPress<\/em>, is a generally credible reporter on Minnesota politics issues.<\/p>\n<p>But even Deans of Journalism make their errors.<\/p>\n<p>Salisbury wrote in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.twincities.com\/politics\/2010\/07\/first-anti-emmer-ads-launched.html\">this piece<\/a>\u00a0(to which I&#8217;ll add emphasis):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A liberal advocay [sic]\u00a0group today <strong>released the first TV ads attacking Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The political arm of the Alliance for a Better Minnesota spent more than $500,000 to start running the 30-second spots statewide, according to their press release.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the interest of clarity, Salisbury should have written &#8220;A liberal advocacy group today released the first TV ads attacking Republican candidate Tom Emmer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=11604\">that the DFL <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=11556\">Minnesota left <\/a>actually <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=11406\">had to<\/a> pay <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=11218\">real <\/a>money\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=10992\">for<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, great job!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bill Salisbury, the longtime Capitol reporter for the PiPress, is a generally credible reporter on Minnesota politics issues.
